Nandana Sen is an Indian actress, screenwriter, children’s author and child-rights activist. She is the daughter of Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna economist Amartya Sen and Padma Shri winner Nabanita Dev Sen, one of the most prominent authors in contemporary Bengali literature.

Dimple is well known Bollywood actress, who started her career at the age of 16 with the film Bobby. In that same year she married Indian actor Rajesh Khanna, six months before the release of her first film, Bobby, in 1973 and then left the film industry to raise her two daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna. They spent 11 years together. They got separated because of some personal issues but never divorced. She returned to the film industry in 1984 after her separation from Rajesh Khanna.

She won the national award for the movie Rudaali where she played the role of Shanichari, a lonely and hardened Assamese village woman who, throughout a lifetime of misfortune, has never cried and is now challenged with a new job as a professional mourner.
