Wasim Akram, a former Pakistani cricketer married his Australian Girlfriend Shaniera Thompson in Lahor, whom he had met while on a visit to Melbourne in 2011.
The Nikaah was a very quite affair attended by close friends and family members. According to sources Wasim plans to host a grand reception in November and December.
Shaniera Thompson is his second wife. Akram married Huma in 1995, they had two sons Tahmoor (born 1996) and Akbar (born 2000)from their marriage of fifteen years. Huma died of multiple organ failure in 2009.
Shaniera Thompson is a Public relations consultant. “She embraced Islam and is learning our language and close to my sons and they form close bond” Said Wasim. He plans to visit India for Champion League and will take Shaniera along with him.
Wasim played 104 Tests and 356 one-day internationals for Pakistan in a career lasting from 1984 to 2003. He was a genuine left arm fast bowler who could bowl with significant pace and left-handed batsman who represented the Pakistan national cricket team in Test cricket and One Day International (ODI) matches.
